The head of the World Health Organization has warned that the ongoing Ebola outbreak is on course to surpass all previous outbreaks in terms of fatalities. Since the outbreak was declared on 15 May, more than 2,000 people have died, and thousands of additional cases have been reported.
According to the WHO, the current figures indicate a high likelihood of this becoming the most severe Ebola outbreak in history. The exact toll continues to rise as health authorities work to contain the spread.
